Memorial Day Thoughts

Memorial day is here and the time has come to remember those who sacrificed all for our freedom.  If you are looking for ways to observe Memorial Day, Carl Francis wrote a great article on his blog:

Gone But Not Forgotten: 15 Ways to Observe Memorial Day

No matter how you pay tribute, take a minute to say "Thank You" to those who are serving, and give thanks to those who gave all in service their our country.

Merry Christmas to You...

With only a few days until Christmas, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and send a reminder to keep our brave men and women abroad in your thoughts and prayers.  They are separated from friends and family this time of year, so pray for their comfort and safety, and thank them for their service and sacrifice.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed new year...

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

Black Friday Anyone?

Wow... This is the first year in a loooong time that I am not participating in the madness called Black Friday. Not necessarily because of the current economic climate or anything (I wonder if that is going to affect today's sales greatly?), but because I AM ALREADY DONE WITH MY CHRISTMAS SHOPPING.

I can't even believe it myself!

I usually start shopping in June or July, but I got a really late start this year (September). I got done with the kids' presents (and my husband's) around the beginning of November and all that is left is giftcards for all my out of state family. I promised myself that this year we were going to to checks and giftcards because last year we spent $300 on POSTAGE. Dang.

So here I sit contemplating starting my Christmas cards (which I really should have started in October - ooops). I make them with my scrapbooking supplies and my immediate family has come to expect them handmade. LOL

But I also have a 6 page paper due on Sunday.

Dilemma. I guess I could just sit here and blog or twitter all day...

Better not though. ;)

Halloween is Around the Corner...

Can you believe that Halloween is around the corner? We LOVE Halloween around here… We got a really good deal on some ELABORATE adult costumes last year… So I will be Beauty and my Hubby The Beast. LOL We decided we wanted to go all out on some theatrical costumes – so we will have to wear them for MANY years to come!

The kids however, are another story… They are always changing their minds on what they want to be for Halloween… We are always looking online for costume ideas. Did you know there is even blogs dedicated to Halloween? Costume Chatter Blog is one of our favorites.

My youngest is still in Superhero mode. He will probably be a superhero, but he isn’t sure which one. Ahhh the dilemmas of a six year old! My oldest is of the age where he doesn’t want to be Superman anymore… He loves funny Halloween costumes, but is also really into that ghoulish, gory, scary stuff. This is my hubby:

So yeah - I wonder where he gets it from! My oldest son will probably be almost as scary as my husband this year... Whichever costume freaks out his little brother the most - this is the one he will pick.

In any case, well be sure to be surfing the web for Halloween safety tips. We always have to remind the kids how to be safe on Halloween night – especially since my oldest will be probably be out with his friends. Times are just not the same…

Anyway, if you have any favorite Halloween activities or websites, please feel free to share them!
